Last night on my way back from the gym I considered the far more romantic implications of joining the navy, rather than the air force, after college. 17th century ruffians did not throw their cares to the wind, kiss their bonny lasses farewell, and jump in their f-16s. But you know, maybe they would have had the technology been around, and since I really don't approve of the navy's Silly Hat policy, I'm sticking with the af.

A couple days ago Caitlyn sent me two mix CDs in the mail of, well, you know, the kind of music Caitlyn Paxson puts on mix CDs. One of them is mostly Child Ballads and the other is a montage of folk and ect. This whole time we've maintained dead-tree-and-ink letter writing and now she's got tickets booked to be here in early March! I'm psyched, like, whoa. Apparently her family is coming over and renting a place out West and she and Betsy will come through Cork possibly the weekend of the 10th.

I was shocked in the early start music class that prof Kelly didn't know about the Child Ballads. Uh, what?

Hah! Luke I didn't know you still checked in here! Yeah, I volunteer two hours a week teaching at the english language center (or 'centre', if you're Irish or retarded). It's run by nuns, who are intense. The students, though, are for the most part very friendly and eager to learn. (this is not to say that the intense nuns are not friendly, and if I had something to teach them they may very well be eager, but 'intense' is still the first adjective that came to mind to describe them). It's sort of a "come in, nuns scramble around, 3 minutes later here's your class" thing. Like, two weeks ago it was that class of mostly Polish people, and yesterday I worked one-on-one with a Palestinian dude (I had to skip the week in between cause of a rugby match). Next week Celestine (I work for some one named Celestine. That's pretty righteous. Literally.) says they have 4 recent immegrant chicks with no english at all coming in for me to work with. Waheel and the polish folks all had some english already, so it'll be a whole differernt ball game next week.

Well, I try to swing by when I remember. But since I can't keep your blog on my links page due to its top-secret nature, that is less frequently than I'd like.

Go english!

Also, with respect to the Aunt Mary quote: I find it frightening how similar Mary's, Judy's, and mom's writing styles are. No one else writes like them, but they all write like each other. It's almost like they're related.

Go sisters!
